Supporting our people through life’s biggest moments
At Beyond Retail, we know that great workplaces are built around people, not just policies. And when our teams told us they wanted stronger support for new parents, we listened.
As a result, we’ve now announced major upgrades to our maternity and paternity pay policies as part of a wider review of employee benefits across the business.
The enhanced offering was introduced following feedback from employees, with parental leave highlighted as one of the most important areas for improvement during our latest internal survey.
The updated policies are designed to give employees greater financial support and flexibility during the transition into parenthood, helping families feel more secure during the early months at home with a new baby.
Investing in people through every stage of life
The new parental leave packages provide enhanced maternity and paternity pay, with support increasing alongside length of service and extended periods of full pay available for mothers and fathers to help ease financial pressure for growing families.
At Beyond Retail, maternity leave is now offered with up to 6 months full pay and paternity leave with up to 8 weeks full pay for employees with 5+ years of service.
The full breakdown is as follows:
Maternity Pay:
- 1–2 Years Service: 8 weeks at 100% pay, then 6 weeks at 50% pay
- 2–5 Years Service: 3 months at 100% pay
- 5+ Years Service: 6 months at 100% pay
Paternity Pay:
- 3 months–2 Years Service: 4 weeks at 100% pay
- 2–5 Years Service: 6 weeks at 100% pay
- 5+ Years Service: 8 weeks at 100% pay
These new terms are significantly above the current statutory entitlements of 90% of your average weekly earnings for the first 6 weeks of maternity pay followed by £194.32 a week for the remaining 33 weeks. Current paternity pay entitlement is just 1 or 2 weeks leave at £194.32 a week.
The move reflects Beyond Retail’s wider commitment to creating a supportive and people-first workplace culture across its brands, including Drench, Tap Warehouse and Toasty.

Vicky Murdoch, Head of People & Culture at Beyond Retail said:
“We know that becoming a parent is one of the most significant moments in someone’s life, and we wanted our policies to better reflect the level of support our people deserve during that time.
“The feedback from our teams played a huge role in shaping these changes, and enhancing our parental leave offering was an important step in making Beyond Retail a more supportive and competitive place to work.
“We’re incredibly proud to be introducing these upgrades and giving our employees greater financial security and flexibility during those early months with their growing families.”
The parental leave enhancements mark the first stage of a broader benefits review currently underway at Beyond Retail.
